Individual giving
The University of Chicago Trust (the Trust) is a charitable trust in India, established by friends of the University of Chicago, which facilitates grants and gifts to support educational and research programs and activities for the betterment of India.
To locally support these ongoing and future activities in India, consider a donation to the University of Chicago Trust in India, which collaborates with the University of Chicago on a number of exciting research initiatives.
Recent activities supported by the Trust include:

- The International Innovation Corps’ project with the Indian Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), which aims to catalyze responsible digital innovation in government by driving key outcomes for the Open Government Data (OGD) Platform in India, the National Centre for AI (NCAI), and digital capacity building initiatives for government officials.
- Year-long scholarships for 15 students from India
Gifts to the Trust are deductible under Section 80G of the India Income-Tax Act, 1961, providing donors in India a tax-efficient avenue to support these programs. The Trust is also registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (also known as FCRA) to receive foreign donations and grants.
Donors may be asked to provide additional information for FCRA compliance and reporting purposes. Please email giving@uchicagotrust.org with any questions.
